#37: PKP
As I'm sure anyone that's been on a good study abroad program will tell you, my 2012 summer with PKP is one that I will never forget! As commonplace as that may sound, there was something about the Pembroke-King's Programme that made it a truly unique experience. Maybe it was my passion for all things British, or the culture, or the people I met. Or maybe it was simply the ideas that I was exposed to during my time in Cambridge, but it's almost difficult to explain without lapsing into generalizations about how great it was and how much I wish I could go back. I can't quite put my finger on what made it so remarkable.
But anyways...
Here's the (new and improved!) PKP 2013 Website. Check it out!! And don't forget to watch the video, featuring one of my favorites, Charlotte!
And then just a few of my favorite photos of Pembroke College. GORGEOUS.

#35: Jeremy Clarkson
As you may know, I like cars (for some reason) so it's probably no surprise that I'm a big fan of Top Gear, the motoring show on BBC. I daresay that one of the reasons I like the show so much is because of this guy: Jeremy Clarkson.
His personality is somewhat difficult to describe, but he is a hoot! He really and truly makes the show what it is. It's so good!
I particularly enjoy his disdain for Americans, thought I'm not sure why. He does a wonderfully awful impression of Americans occasionally during the show, and though I couldn't find a video of that, this'll have to do:

#34: Keep Calm and Carry On
I was reminded of this poster the other day in my history class when we were talking about British stoicism during the Blitz. Though it's hanging on the wall in my apartment, I feel that I'm so often absorbed in other things that I forget it's there.
According to the UK National Archives Bookshop (?), the poster was designed in 1939 and was intended for distribution if the British Isles ever were invaded by the Germans.
The bookshop (?) of the Imperial War Museum has a slightly different story, saying that the posters were "intended to allay public fears in the wake of predicted German air raids at the outset of the Second World War."
Given that the poster was never widely circulated, and only (relatively) recently made it's way into the mainstream, I feel more inclined to lean towards the former explanation.
The official UK National Archives catalogue notes in the Collection of British war posters produced during the Second World War, 1940-1945:

Reasons Why I'm in Love with England: #33 Pembroke College, Cambridge
Though I've not yet been there, I imagine my summer in Cambridge is going to be PHENOMENAL.
Due to a change in housing fees, I've been able to switch to a nicer room for no additional charge!
Hooray for having a room actually in Pembroke College!!
This isn't my picture, but this is the college's stock photo for the Pembroke College student rooms:
Ummm... GORGEOUS.
And the other side of the building (from Google Maps):
I'M SO EXCITED! AND IN LOVE WITH ENGLAND!
AAAAAHHHHHHHH! Late 19th century English architecture is my favorite!!
